INTER-SCHOOLS BOOSTED WITH D250,000 …as biggest athletics meeting climaxes this weekend ..Bottrop vows to retain title..

Officials of the Secondary school Sports association were smiling all the way to the bank with a D250,000 cheque donated by the Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union GTUCCU.

The massive sum is designed to fund this weekend’s’ finals in the interschool athletics championship, the biggest athletics meeting in The Gambia.
The finals starts this evening and runs until Sunday at the Independence Stadium
The money according to the president of school sports president Ismaila Ceesay will be used to award the winners in both the Upper Basic and senior secondary school categories. The winner this year will pocket a D100,000, runner ups D50 and D15,000 for the 3rd place finisher.

The General Manager of the GTUCCU Mr Baboucarr Jobe commended the school sports association for decentralising sports and assured them of his institution’s continuous support.
The finals will be keenly contested as Bottrop senior secondary school defending champions for the past 3 years tries to retain the title while a dozen others including the much rated Saints and Gambia Senor Secondary are expected to put a tough challenge.
