KING VOWS TO EXPAND SPORTS IN SECURITY SERVICES

The newly elected head of the combined Security services sport association, Lamin King Colley, has said he will aspire to expand and promote sports to become an even greater priority within the security services.
Speaking to The Standard yesterday King, the head of the police mobile traffic division said already most security services have a special unit for sports providing national athletes for The Gambia and this trend will be further expanded to cover all sporting disciplines. King further said he will do his best to work with all the relevant security heads to get them interested and invest in the sports sector of their services.

“This should not be difficult because as servicemen our daily work alone prepares us for any kind of physical activity including sports,” he said. King added all what is required now is for the services to take sports as an important component of their work and life of a service man. “After all there is lot of health gains too in sports,” he said.

King who is also the president of the Gambia body weight lifting power and body building association got his elevation as combined services sports President over the weekend.
The Combined Security Services/Agencies Sports Associations is made up of nine members namely Gambia Police Force, the army, immigration, department, Civil Aviation Authority, State Intelligence Services, Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia, revenue Authority, Prisons and Gambia Fire and Rescue Services.

Colley will be assisted by Harriet Ndow (GCAA), Abdourahman Shabazz Sanyang (GCAA) and Lamin Fadera (Prisons Services) as first, second and third vice presidents respectively with Habbulai Jeng (GAF) being the Secretary General assisted by Sainey Fofana( GID) as his deputy.
Dawda Jatta (Prison Department)is elected as treasurer with Bakary Fatty (GFRS) his understudy, Masaneh Fofana (GFRS/JOC) as auditors and Alhaji Badji (SIS) as Public Relations Officer.
The executives will be aided by a group of five namely Ousman Bah (JOC), Lamin Opa Keita (GPF), Bintou Jaiteh (SIS), Yahya Colley (GAF) and Amie Jabang ( GPF) as co-opted member.
