POLICE WEIGH IN NSC, GFF SAGA

A credible source has informed The Standard that the National Sports Council, NSC, was recently invited by the police to explain certain matters arising from the dispute between them and the GFF. Our source said the invitation follows a letter written to the police by the NSC asking the IGP to investigate allegations of the fraud as recommended by National Assembly select committee on sports. Our source further stated that a former GFF secretary general Abass Bah was also invited and made a statement.

Last night The Standard contacted the chairman of the NSC Borri Darboe who confirmed that he was invited by Fraud Squad to give a statement which he said he did. “I was also told to furnish them with some documents which i did and was asked to go. I also understand that the GFF was also invited by police. We are now waiting for the police,” Borri Darboe concluded. Meanwhile a police source has confirmed that a top GFF official was also sighted at the police headquarters yesterday but would not know what he was there for.
The Standard contacted the police PRO ASP David Kujabi who explained his office is not yet privy to any such info but will furnish this medium when anything comes up.

The NSC and the GFF have been at loggerheads since last year when the former accused Football House of corruption and maladministration, a charge the GFF deny. Football House said the NSC chairman is a well-known opposition stakeholder who is hiding behind his official position to witch hunt the current leadership of the GFF.
