QUARTER FINALS IN SUPER NAWETTAN TODAY

By Lamin Cham

The Super Nawetan has now reached the crunches with the last eight teams heading for tie-breakers that is expected to spread both smiles and tears across the country. After an exciting first round matches, the chaff has now been pulled from the grains with surprised casualties like BEM, Lamin and to some extent Brufut leading the pack that fell off wayside.

But there are no less intriguing sides left in the programme that starts tonight, with the ever flambouyant Manjai taking on the pride of Kombo South, Gunjur Dabanai. While Gunjur had a shaky start to the tourney, Manjai had ever been serious from the start and are not expected to let their feet off the gas tonight.
Tomorrow Wednesday may not on the surface habour much thrills for those looking for fireworks because Banjul has promised to massacre the Foni Boys but whoever underrates Foni could be in for a shock. Ask BEM.

Champions Sukuta survived a scary first round but have vowed to reinvigorate their title defense from this stage on. Hey, but they face a herculean task and a mountain to climb on Thursday because their opponent is Brikama, the self-styled football Gods of West Coast region.
The final quarterfinal on Friday is another tantalizing duel with both the ordinary and extra ordinary prospect in store. Veteran champions SereKunda East will meet debutants LRR. Serekunda may show little excitement if they beat LRR but any victory for the Jarankas and Kiangkas could bring the sky down from Kalagi Bridge to Sofanyama in Pakaliba.
