Scorpions Coach Tom Sainifiet yesterday unveiled a 20- man squad to take Benin on November 17 at the Independence Stadium .
He told journalists at the unveiling that the Scorpions are ready for what he described as a tough and challenging game ‘ because Benin and Algeria are leaders in the group’.
He also disclosed that the invited players are expected to start arriving on Monday and go to camp on Tuesday.
‘We have analysed our past matches and concluded that the performance was satisfactory but the results were disappointing. We played more offensive approach at home matches but we didn’t score and that was really bad for the team’, he said.

Future is bright
The coach expressed optimism about Gambia’s chances to qualify for future Afcon editions given the strong pool of players the country has across Europe and elsewhere.
‘In the near future, am sure Gambia will qualify to AFCON because we have young and good players that are ready to fight for their country and they are very competitive’, he said.

Fans’ behaviour
Commenting on the attitude of fans, the coach called on them to desist from going against the team at any time during the game. ‘The fans are also part of the game and they are very important for the players. But they must desist from booing the players and stop throwing stones and insults.” He encouraged fans to be steadfast and be with the team at all times and push them by supporting so that they win their hearts.
