Samger hires new Coach

Samger Football club have appointed Alagie Basiru Njie as their new head coach for the coming 2017-2018 season.
Njie will be assisted by Yahya Manneh formerly of Lamin United and founder of Jatta’s football academy in Lamin village.

Over a month ago the club sacked Coach Omar Jobe following a dismal season that ended with languishing at the bottom of the table with 19 points from 22 games, thus relegated. Jobe replaced Jane Joof after the later resigned to take up Fortune FC in the second division who have no gained promotion to first division.
Alagie Basiru Njie, who worked under former coaches Jane Joof and Omar Jobe respectively, and is highly acclaimed to have amassed a wealth of experience and well acquainted with the club’s culture and philosophy.
Reacting to both appointments, the team’s Secretary General Baboucarr Sey said it’s the dawn of new era.
“This is an opportunity for him (Alagie Basiru Njie) to move to the next level of his coaching career haven learnt from previous Coaches”.

 

Founded in 2003 as an academy, Samger has helped in shaping the career of would-be professional footballers and there are a few notable ones which have gained international recognition like Sulayman Marreh and Lamin Samateh who has 3 times, consecutively won the golden boot in GFF first Division league before joining Fundacio Grama now in the Spanish 2nd tier.
Samger finished the domestic league as runners up in 2008 before probing to win the super cup the following year against Wallidan.

The new coach and assistant Yaya Manneh will start recruiting for young talents across all zones with the hope of selecting young potentials who will be develop to the next level as soon as possible.
