The campaign against FGM continues

The movement for the criminalisation of the deep-rooted cultural practice of female genital mutilation by government has gained considerable momentum in recent times in the country. This is a reflection of what is obtained elsewhere in the world. Gone are days when the mere discussion on FGM is considered a taboo. Now, people are not only speaking out against the practice, they're doing so in a loud, emphatic voice and Gambian authorities should no longer continue ignoring the calls. With the journalism award put up by the Guardian newspaper, greater cooperation is required.
