The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will be represented by national team coach Tom Saintfiet and team manager Ousman Drammeh at next week’s draw for the Africa Nation’s Cup in Cameroun. The draw is set for August 17 and for the first time, The Gambia will be among 23 other nations to play in this biggest stage in African football.

GFF first vice president Bakary Jammeh confirmed the duo as the official representatives of the Gambian federation though according to him, Caf can still invite national association presidents whose countries are in the draw.

‘The draw will be followed by a tournament workshop and that is very important for us as first time qualifiers. So the coach and team manager would be in that workshop to learn a thing or two about the tournament,” Mr Jammeh said.

He expressed his wish for a kind draw. ”I wish we could avoid bigwigs like Algeria or Senegal in our group but anyway we are going to play like equals and take what we get,” Jammeh noted. The Gambia topped group D of the qualifiers over Gabon, DR Congo and Angola to reach her first CAN.
