GFF LEAGUE: CHAOS AT BOX BAR (Biko/Brikama match abandoned)

The match, played at the Box Bar in Brikama Wednesday was abandoned with Brikama leading by a goal to nil.

It followed an attack on the referee by Biko players complaining that a penalty in their favour was not given while Brikama’s counter-attack from that action led to their goal.

It is also reported that a wider chaos occurred involving rival fans after a Biko player gestured back to Brikama fans who were allegedly abusing him. Both teams had to rush to the safety of the dressing rooms to escape the hail of stones.

When the GFF was contacted on the matter yesterday, second vice president and head of competition, Kebba Touray, said he was not in a position to comment on the issue until after the organising committee meet over it.

Incidences of violence between the two teams have become a common occurrence the most serious one being in 2012.

Meanwhile, Real de Banjul on Wednesday stretched their lead by five points beating Interior 4-1 while Wallidan and Hawks drew 1-1.
