In a letter written to Mr Jaiteh on September 30, the regional coordinator, Bubacarr Fofana, stated: “I want to assure you that the items you donated which were received in Janjangbureh on 19 September by the Regional Disaster Management Coordiantion Office, will reach the right people and I hope it will go a long way in addressing the plight of the victims. I must also say that I am quite impressed by your persistent support to disaster victims particularly Central River Region disaster victims. May the Almighty Allah reward you abundantly.”
In response, Mr Jaiteh who is also the honorary consul of Cyprus to The Gambia, said his company, Salifu K Jaiteh Enterprise, has been making similar donations to disaster victims and other worthy causes in its role as a good corporate citizen.
“It is duty bound on all of us as Africans, as Gambians and as Muslims, to extend a helping hand to our less fortunate brothers and sisters especially those afflicted by natural disasters as in the case of the destructive windstorm. It is also a way of complementing the interventions of government. I am happy that our humble assistance is highly appreciated,” Alhaji Salifu Jaiteh said.
