Mrs Veronic Carayol, the former deputy commissioner responsible for enforcement at the GRA, was earlier arraigned on September 23, this year at the magistrates court in Banjul charged with multiple charges including, unlawful publication, abuse of office, false information and corrupt practices, charges she denied. She was granted bail in the sum of a million dalasis with two Gambian sureties.

In trying to build a prima facie case, the prosecution presented six witnesses and tendered a host of exhibits against Mrs Carayol while her attorney decided to make a no-case submission without narrating the side of their case.

Her attorney, Hawa Sisay-Sabally also informed the court that she would file a no-case submission after the prosecution decided to close its case. Magistrate Jackline Hakim, who presided over the case gave time to both parties to file their briefs and consequently adjourned the matter to December 16 for adoption of briefs.
