The ten-day event is filled with interesting clashes in sports and cultural activities between all the seven regions in The Gambia as well as serious brain cracking conferences on carefully thought out subjects aim at providing tangible recommendations for solution to the problems affecting youths.
According to National Youth Council chairman Fabakary Kalleh who is already on the ground putting the finishing touches to the preparations, the Soma event promises to be one of the best organised in recent times. “We have been working round the clock for weeks now and we are generally satisfied that all facilities and logistics have been taken care of and to the best standards possible,” he said.
Kalleh said all sporting facilities have been spruced up, accommodations allocated and power supply upgraded to make the ten-day period comfortable for all participants. He commended Nawec for working very hard to cater for the event to the best of their ability. “Yes this kind of events are so huge that you cannot entirely avoid hitches but we have tremendously and scrupulously done everything to make it humanly possible for everyone to attend and participate in the Nayconf in the most conducive environment possible,” he told Afri-radio sports show.
The NYC boss announced that the official opening ceremony will take place tomorrow morning expected to be graced by President Jammeh, cabinet ministers, directors and foreign dignitaries.
