Tujereng VDC, partners donate 50 households

Tujereng Village Development Committee in partnership with Care for Gambia Foundation over the weekend donated food stuff and sanitary items worth over 140,000 dalasis to 50 households in Tujereng village and its surrounding areas, at a presentation held at Tujereng hospital.

According to members of the Tujereng VDC and Care for Gambia Foundation, the donation is geared towards contributing their quarter in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic that has already affected the globe and livelihoods.

Items donated included 50 bags of 25kg of American rice, 50 gallons of 5 litters cooking oil, washing machine, detergents, wall fans, wheelbarrow, rakes, bleaches, bed sheets, gloves, PPES, sanitizers, masks and buckets.
Speaking, Lamin K. Bojang, public relation officer of Tujereng VDC, said there can’t be good health without proper food.

“This is why Tujereng VDC join hands with Care for Gambia inorder to make this donation successful,” he said.
Maa Ceesay, public health officer at the Tujereng health facility, urged the people Tujereng and its surrounding areas to observe preventive measures given by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The Alkalo of Tujereng expressed gratitude in receiving such support in his village and the work they are doing for the village. “Everyone appreciates it alot and I would like to thank the VDC for taking such a bold step in contributing their quarter in the fight against this deadly pandemic,” he said.
Sirreh Jatta, a beneficiary, thanked the VDC and Care for Gambia Foundation for donating the food items.

“We the women and men can’t do anything for our families anymore due to this virus. We pray that Allah see us out of this deadly pandemic,” she said.
