VOLLEYBALL CAMP TARGETS REGIONS

At least 75 young people drawn from Upper River, Lower River, Central River and North Bank regions are currently converging in Janjanbureh for a 6-day inter -regional volleyball and sport for development camp supported by United Purpose under EU funds.

Commenting on the objective of the initiative Pa Baboucarr Barrow head coach of Gambia beach volleyball team said the camp is one of the most important basics to develop volleyball, as it entails the involvement of children and mass participation. He added: “This is also part of our efforts to regionalise volleyball in The Gambia and we believe this is the best way to start that passage”.

Lamin Sima, Regional Youth and Sport Coordinator said he is excited to join the camp to assess the readiness of Gambian youths and their commitment to the development of volleyball.

Lamin Manjang, from United Purpose, thanked the participants and their coaches for the dedication already demonstrated and urged them to take advantage of the camp to learn about the sport

During the camp participants will also receive presentations on Irregular migration, Women in Sport, Role of sport in peace and development and as well as share ideas on youth opportunities in the country.
