‘Benno Sigil Gambia’ to call convergence of opposition leaders

A Patriotic citizens platform calling itself Benno Sigil Gambia has announced plans to bring all opposition leaders around the table to discuss the need for unity now, to stop President Adama Barrow from securing a third term.

In a Communiqué shared with The Standard yesterday, Benno declared The Gambia must be saved and handed back to its people.

Benno said it is pushing for all opposition parties outside the NPP alliance to merge under one umbrella as a united national front.

The platform said it prefers the Team Gambia Grand Coalition 2026 of  Halifa Sallah and Sidia Jatta; UNITE Party-led Coalition 2026 under Talib Bensouda; UDP-led Gambia First Coalition 2026; and the kingmaker APRC faction that rejected the Barrow/NPP alliance to come together.

The group argued that the No To Alliance has political clout to cause a seismic shift in favour of the opposition.

Benno added that its plan is to bring all opposition party leaders to one roundtable with nine delegates each — 5 males, 4 females — to commit, unite and agree on one common platform with one flagbearer.

“No ego. No separate manifestos. One team.”
