Bensouda mocks critics over ‘endless accusations’

Coalition 2026 candidate Talib Bensouda has mocked his critics over what he described as repeated accusations against him, saying he would remain focused on his presidential campaign despite the criticism.

Speaking in Medina Sering Mass Kah, Bensouda said he had faced persistent attacks, with critics accusing him of various things. He insisted that the criticism would not distract him from his political ambition.

“Every day they are fighting us; every week they are fighting us. The only thing they have not said at this point is Talib is pregnant. They have levelled all kinds of accusations against me. But let them talk while we do,” he said.

Bensouda urged supporters of Coalition 2026 to remain committed to the campaign, acknowledging that the journey towards the 5th December presidential election would not be easy.

“But in shaa Allah, we will all cross the ferry and go and inaugurate Talib Bensouda as president. So Coalition 2026, let’s try our best. This is not going to be easy. But in shaa Allah we will make it,” he said.

The presidential aspirant also criticised President Adama Barrow over his time in office, arguing that the president had been given ample opportunity to transform the country.

Bensouda recalled Barrow’s initial promise to govern for three years following his election in 2016. He said Gambians later gave Barrow a five-year term, but the president subsequently sought another term and is now seeking re-election.

He said the country needed a leader with a clear direction.

“President Barrow is like a truck without a brake. If you leave him, he will keep on accelerating. So time is up for him to give it to a driver who knows where he is heading. And that driver is the fourth president of the Republic of The Gambia, Talib Ahmed Bensouda,” he declared.
