The office the Alkalo of Latrikunda Alhaji Omar MO Faal, has described as “false, reckless, and misleading” allegations by United Democratic Party (UDP) stalwart Ya Kumba Jaiteh that he had issued 13,000 attestations during the 2026 supplementary voter registration exercise.
In a statement seen by The Standard, the alkalos’s office said the records of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), showed that Faal provided only 132 attestations, not 13,000.
“The difference between 132 and 13,000 is not a minor discrepancy; it is a gross and extraordinary misrepresentation of the facts. Journalists, interested parties and the public can independently verify these figures directly with the IEC,” the statement said.
It continued to state that out of the 132 attestations, only two (2) were challenged at the Kanifing Revising Court, and “we are waiting for the court to publish its decision on those two challenges.”
According to the statement, alkalo Faal himself is currently in the United Kingdom where he arrived on a visit on 26 August.
“Before his departure, he was neither served with a summon nor requested to appear before any Revising Court concerning the two challenged attestations. So any suggestion that he had failed to appear in court but was spotted at a political rally is equally not true,” the statement said.
The statement accused Ya Kumba Jaiteh of spreading falsehoods, ‘an act she should have known is illegal as a lawyer herself.’
