YOUNG SCORPIONS HUMBLE MALI TO COME SECOND IN GROUP A

The Gambia has taken a giant step toward securing a qualification for the next African Youth Championship with victory over host Mali at the ongoing Wafu Zone A Under -20 championship on Sunday.

Before beating Mali, the Young Scorpions fought a spirited nil- nil draw against Liberia that now send them to second place in Group A with 4 points.

In the fight against Mali at the Stade Ouezzin Coulibaly, fresh leg Dembo Danjo turned to a super sub when he scored the goal that told the story.

His compatriot John Jarju got the Man of the Match accolade after a starling performance.

Tomorrow Wednesday, the boys will return for the final group match against Guinea at 12 noon. A victory over Guinea guarantees a semifinal place automatically. The Young Scorpions must reach the final to take one of two spots from Zone A to the African Youth Championship.
