By Maimuna Sey-Jawo The Executive Director of Biodiversity Action Journalists the Gambia, Samba Jawo has applauded the chief executive officer of vision development foundation Mr. Turo Darboe for his humanitarian gesture in supporting the welfare of the association to be able to deliver effectively and efficiently. He noted that the donation of D37, 500 is a clear indication of the new dispensation that Mr. Darboe has taken in addressing some of the challenges that the young Gambian journalists are facing in their reporting. He noted that the media have big role to play in national development, and Mr. Darboe’s support is a step in the right direction in addressing some of the gaps affecting the young journalists. “We are grateful to Turo Darboe’s intervention and we expect others to support the young journalists to be able to execute their duties effectively.” Jawo was speaking during the presentation of cash to his organization and other beneficiaries held at Churchill’s Town in Tallinding recently. He added that the donation will contribute immensely in helping them to solve some of their problems, especially preparing their website and organizing training for their members as well and other related issues. He described the gesture as timely and added the presentation is not a surprise as it is not the first time Turo Darboe has done such. Jawo seized the opportunity to express his heart felt appreciation to vision development foundation under the leadership of Turo Darboe and further called upon all Gambians to emulate the good work of Mr Darboe.
