The Brufut Youth and Sports Development Committee has announced the passing of Lamin Bojang famously called ‘Lampard’. He died on Sunday after a short illness.
His passing has devastated the community in general and the football followers and administrators in the town.
Lampard was a strong pillar in the historic 2012 Brufut Zonal team that spectacularly reached the semifinals of the Super Nawettan at their first attempt.
His consummating skills and judgment in play made him stood out as one of the biggest players of the Super Nawettan that year.
Those days were the golden days of Brufut football with Lampard and his mates coming together to form the Brufut United FC which played in third Division of the Gambia Football Federation League.
Lampard also played for league teams elsewhere.
“We are saddened by his passing,” said Aliieu Sanneh, president of the BYSDC.
