Consul Manga Awarded Russia’s Pushkin Medal In Moscow

The Honorary Consul of Russia in The Gambia, Momodou Lamin Manga, has been awarded the prestigious Pushkin Medal by the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The award was presented Wednesday at the Kremlin on the Day of National Unity, as President Putin presented state awards to foreign citizens.

Manga, a Gambian citizen, received the medal for merits in the field of culture, preservation of historical heritage, and contribution to bringing peoples closer and popularising Russian culture abroad.

He was among several foreign public figures, scientists and entrepreneurs who also received Pushkin Medals and Orders of Friendship.

The honour recognises Manga’s long-standing role in strengthening cultural ties between The Gambia and Russia, and in promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples.

It is a proud moment for The Gambia, and a testament to the power of culture as a bridge between nations.
