GAMBIA SEEKS TO DOMINATE WAFU-A WITH ANOTHER CUP TOMORROW

Young Scorpions face Guinea in U-20 final

The Gambia will make history as one of the power houses in youth football in West Africa if the Young Scorpions can snatch the Wafu Zone A title tomorrow Friday.

One may argue that the country is already a well-established name in youth football after 2005 and 2009 when the Baby Scorpions won the African title at Under- 17, but tomorrow’s U-20 final against Guinea in Bamako comes with additional glory.  It will put ice on cake for a team that has already qualified for the continental show down by reaching this far.

Secondly,  a victory for the Young Scorpions would make it an unprecedented  double -Wafu trophy in one year after the Baby Scorpions won the title only a little over a month ago,

High prospects
Having secured qualification to the  Afcon, Coach Lie Bojang has made the search for an international cup a personal ambition  and would sent an equally hungry squad to tear down the Guineans still wary of the  Gambian team since  the group stage.

He would again rely on his lethal duo of Francis Gomez and Agibou Dibba who in between them accounted for much of The Gambia’s success in the tourney so far.

The Guineans meanwhile could prove a hard nut to crack with their eyes set on the trophy. A titanic duel is assured in Bamako tomorrow.
