Press release
The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) extends its warmest congratulations to Gambian international striker Musa Barrow following his acquisition of a majority stake in AJ Soccer Football Club.
Following the acquisition, the club has been officially rebranded to Laka99 FC—combining Musa’s popular nickname “Laka” and his signature shirt number 99.
As part of the new leadership structure, minority shareholder Sadibou Kamaso assumes the role of Club President, while Musa serves as Chairman. The club has also officially relocated its headquarters from Jarra Soma to Kanifing.
Laka99 FC has enjoyed a remarkably swift ascent in Gambian domestic football. After clinching the LRR Third Division title, the club secured promotion to the APS Wallet Second Division ahead of the 2025/26 season.
In their debut season in the second tier, they mounted an extraordinary, giant-killing run to the FF Cup finals, finishing as worthy runners-up to Baalor Sarr.
“We are delighted to see current international players reinvesting directly into our domestic game,” said GFF president Kemo Ceesay. “Musa Barrow’s commitment will bring renewed ambition and professional standard to the domestic league. We wish Laka99 FC continued success both on and off the pitch.”
