The state prosecutor, Aji Amie Ceesay told the judge, Simon Abi that Ousman Badjie’s case was for mention since the case was doing from the lower court. She said there was no indictment in her case file and that they will file charges against Mr Badjie later.

Mr Badjie who is currently detained at Mile 2 central prison was arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates Court on November 18 on two counts of economic crime and neglect of official duty. He was accused of intentionally failing to pursue the D1, 134,000 stolen by Faisal Bojang who was working at the Gambian embassy in Paris while Mr Badjie was head of mission. He denied the charge before he was remanded at Mile 2 central prison.

He appeared at the high court on Wednesday requesting to be granted bail but the state opposed to the application on the grounds that investigation into the matter was ongoing. The court is expected to rule on his bail application on Wednesday.
