GAMBIA REACHES WAFU FINAL

qualifies for Caf U-20

The Young Scorpions yesterday beat Sierra Leone 2-0 in the semifinal of the Wafu Zone A U-20 tournament in Mali, and clinched one of the two spots for the zone in the Caf championship.

The heroes once again were Agibou Dibba and Francis Gomez who in between them, accounted for Gambia’s two goals.

Dibba gave Gambia an early lead before Francis Gomez doubled the advantage at the half-hour mark.

Though Lie Bojang and his staff are delighted to reach the final of the Wafu championship, the big story is already inserted in the history books- they have qualified for the African Under -20 championship to be held in Ghana.

This is the second age category team to reach continental finals after the Baby Scorpions won Wafu and reached the Caf U-17 finals.
