Two people have been arrested by the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG), at Banjul Post Office in connection with five parcels of suspected illicit substance called skunk, concealed inside a breadcrumb tin packed in a carton.

The suspects, Alagie Njie, 31 of Bakau, and Yasaye Ndure, 31, of Bijilo, were arrested on Monday, according to a statement issued by the agency.

Dleag did not however provide further details about the intended recipient or the circumstances that led to the discovery.

It said the arrest of the duo form part of a series of nationwide enforcement operations in which the agency apprehended 51 suspected drug offenders across several regions of The Gambia. They included 48 Gambians and 3 Senegalese nationals.
