Less than 24 hours after The Standard reported the hit-and-run incident that led to the death of two on the Senegambia strip, the police have made arrests.
In the early hours of morning October 26, an unidentified driver of an X5 BMW knocked paraplegiac Mbacke Ndure and his minder Alieu Bah before speeding away from the scene at breakneck speed.
Police launched a vigorous search for the car with registration number BJL 7986 L which eye-witnesses said was the number plate of the vehicle.
Last night, The Standard contacted the police spokesman ASP Foday Conta who confirmed that some arrests have been made but declined to give the number or the identities of the arrested persons. He also stressed that the persons arrested are only suspects and the investigation is on going. “We are processing all information and so far we can only say suspects have been arrested,” he said.
