By Juldeh Njie & Tabora Bojang All 4 Gambia, a non-profitable organization based in the UK, on Tuesday donated cooking materials to New Jeshwang School. The items included rice, cooking oil, stoves and other materials held at the school ground. The organization aims to work towards the academic and emotional development of children in Africa by supporting schools and implementing sustainable development projects. Speaking at the event, editor of the oganisation, Seedy Marong emphasised the importance of the event, adding that it will go a long way in helping the poor and needy children in the school. He urged the school administration to spend the materials wisely to the benefit of the children. “This organization comes into existence on the 20th October 2016 by the donors from UK who came to the Gambia last year and found that the Gambian people need help. Since then they decided to come up with this charitable organization with the aim of helping the needy and the less privileged and if they come this year, they will focus on helping children to realize their dreams. But that could not go as planned because of the political impasse that occurred in the Gambia recently”, he said. “Today we are presenting the new Jeshwang lower basic school with cooking stoves, a bag of rice, a bag of potato, a bag of onion, a packet of jumbo, carton of chicken, tin of tomatoes 10litres of cooking oil, a packet of salt, vegetables, 4 big bundle of firewood, fresh peppers and other cooking condiments, as donated from the All 4 Gambia charitable based in the united kingdom to support child survival and encourage education development in this part of Africa”, he added. “This is a charitable organization so we engage in selling goods from developed countries like the UK and the money generated is used to help these children.” Tijan Ceesay, head master of the school, hailed the donors for their intervention saying this came at the time it is needed the most and said that they are looking forward to a strong collaboration. He called on other development agencies to come to his school aid as some classrooms need renovations. Ceesay said: “ This school is a government own but also a community initiative school and that we looking forward to more donor partnership to help change some of the school old styled buildings and this is a very welcoming gesture because the government cannot do it all alone without the intervention of other development partners”, he remarked. He highlighted the importance of learning saying that it brings world peace and tolerance to humanity. He further urged parents to exercise patience with the children as nothing comes all at once but gradual and with their help and guidance children will surely realize their potentials as future leaders. Deputy head mistress, Ndumbeh Ngum said the donation will go a long way in easing the struggles some of the pupils faced during school hours because some can’t even afford breakfast. She said she is optimistic the organization will continue to offer more help to the school. “The schools have insufficient facilities such as good toilets, furniture and proper learning materials which cannot be realized without the help and intervention of important donors like All 4 Gambia organization. We will ensure the proper utilization of the items donated to them and in a good manner as well”, she concluded.]]>
