The Independent Electoral Commission announced yesterday that 409 candidates have been nominated for the April 12 Area Councilor elections across the country.
According to the IEC, the highest number of contestants is recorded in the West Coast Region where 88 candidates have been nominated.
Also the United Democratic Party filed in the most number of contestants with a national total of 133 candidates.
The second biggest contestant is the Gambia Democratic Congress, GDC, which has 83.
