Up until yesterday, no official statement had been issued either by the GFF or the National Sports Council-MoYS as to when a coach will be appointed to guide the Scorpions in their quest for continental glory.
By implication, no one still knows which players, foreign or home- based, are available for the team which must travel to South Africa on June 12 at the start of the campaign.
The Standard last week contacted Technical and Development Committee of the GFF which is tasked to identify and select a coach for the national team. Its chairman Abdoulie ‘Star’ Jallow said they were yet to complete the painstaking process of scrutinising the candidates’ profiles.
However, with just weeks to go the Gambian fans are beginning to wonder what chances the country has in the competition without a coach.
