ChildFund The Gambia is holding a three-day stakeholder orientation on Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) management to strengthen partnership, coordination and accountability for sustainable community impact.
The engagement, underway at the Saama Kairo Conference Hall in Brikama, brings together representatives from government ministries and agencies, partner federations and ChildFund staff.
The GIK programme supports vulnerable children, families and communities through the provision and distribution of essential goods and resources.
The three-day meeting is designed to enhance stakeholders’ understanding of the GIK programme, clarify their respective roles and strengthen their contribution to the ongoing GIK transition. It also provides a platform to reflect on implementation, identify emerging challenges and explore practical solutions to improve delivery.
Director of Programmes and Sponsorship at ChildFund, Nfarama Dabo, said the key focus is to strengthen understanding of GIK processes, management procedures and compliance requirements, while improving coordination among implementing partners.
He stressed that effective collaboration is critical to ensuring assistance reaches intended beneficiaries efficiently and delivers meaningful benefits.
“Participants are also expected to identify strategies to improve the efficiency, accountability and overall impact of Gifts-in-Kind interventions,” Dabo said.
Manager of Saama Kairo Federation, Sunkaru Jatta, expressed hope that the engagement will further strengthen partnerships and provide clear direction for effective implementation of the GIK programme in The Gambia.
At the end of the three days, stakeholders are expected to conclude with key recommendations and practical strategies to strengthen GIK delivery and ensure greater benefits for vulnerable communities across The Gambia.
