Police prosecutor, ASP Almamy Manga yesterday informed the Kanifing Magistrates court of their intention to jointly charge the former AFPRC junta member and minister, Yankuba Touray and the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay.
Prosecutor Manga made the declaration when the case against FJC resumed before Magistrate PM Sarr for hearing. However the prosecutor applied for an adjournment on the grounds that the investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

Manga further submitted that the accused might be jointly charged with Yankuba Touray who is also battling against a similar charge of interfering with a TRRC witness, charges they both deny.

Counsel for the accused, Lawyer Lamin S Camara however did not object to the prosecutor’s application but argued that since his client was charged on 8 March, he was expecting that the prosecution will present their first witness yesterday.

Barrister Camara further contended that he will bend backward and indulge the prosecution one more time and by the next adjourned date he will implore the discretion of the court to strike out the case and discharge the accused if the state is unable to proceed.
The trial magistrate in her short ruling urged the prosecution to scale up their investigation and put their house in order before adjourning the case to 22 March for hearing when Yankuba Touray is also expected to appear.
