The letter which was signed by the Amir of the jama’at read: “We have learnt with a deep sense of regret about the attack on the State House on Tuesday 30th December 2014 resulting in loss of lives and property, which we denounce. On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, The Gambia and on my own behalf, I convey to you and the Government the Islamic message of peace. Islam, as the name implies, is a religion of peace, tolerance and non-violence; it does not support or condone any form of violence. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at always stands by this noble teaching of Islam.

“In this regard, we continue to pray and urge every Gambian to continue praying for the peace, stability, security and prosperity of The Gambia. May Allah Almighty guide and protect us all in the execution of our noble duties to the State. May He continue bestowing grace, mercy, tranquility, peace of mind, security, progress and prosperity on The Gambia and her people. Ameen!”
