Another former prison mate of UDP leader Ousainou Darboe has died. Lamin Manjang, who was detained along side Mr Darboe and dozen others in connection with the April 2016 demonstrations, died yesterday, party sources confirmed to this paper. He was said to be in his seventies.
The death of Manjang brings to four the number of former prisoners who died either in prison or after being set free. They are Lang Marong, Yankuba Ceesay, Solo Koroma and now Lamin Manjang.
3 State House press staff sacked
In a separate development, at least three members of the State House press corps have been relieved of their duties, sources confirmed to The Standard yesterday. They are Kadijah Jawo who was with The Point newspaper, Maafugi Ceesay who was with The Voice newspaper and Awa Ceesay.
There has been no official statement over the sacking of the three journalists but a credible source close to some of them confirmed the development. Press director Amie Bojang-Sissoho could not be reached for immediate comment.
No one was available at the PMO for comment on the matter.
