Asombi’s remains to be flown back to Gambia

The remains of Aja Asombi Bojang, the mother of former president Yahya Jammeh, will be flown to The Gambia for burial, The Standard has learned.
She died on Friday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea where the Jammeh family lives in exile.
Former Mayor Yankuba Colley confirmed to The Standard that Asombi’s remains will be flown to The Gambia for burial in her native village of Bujinga.

The Gambia government over the weekend issued a condolence message to the family of the former President Jammeh. “Following news of the demise of Aja Asombi Bojang, mother of former President, Yahya Jammeh, His Excellency Adama Barrow on behalf of the people of the Republic of The Gambia, the first family and on his own behalf expresses his condolences to the former Head of State and his family,” a government statement said Saturday.
It added that “President Barrow prays for Allah to grant her eternal peace.”
