BAC conducts ‘trash free Brikama’ cleansing exercise

Brikama Area Council last Saturday conducted its second ‘trash free Brikama’ cleansing exercise within the major roads in Brikama.

The concept ‘trash free Brikama’ exercise was initiated by Help Gambia, an NGO under the Household Disaster Resilience project with the Gambia Association in Minnesota in the United States of America (USA).

The exercise started from Jah Oil fuel station at Nyambai via the Brikama mini stadium, Brikama Police Station, Brikama Hospital, Brikama market and environs and terminated at the premises of the Brikama Area Council.

According to Modou Jonga, chief executive officer, BAC, the exercise is meant to clean public spaces within Brikama.

Chief Executive Officer Jonga stated that the exercise was key and very important as clean environment is a prerequisite for a healthy society.

He expressed gratitude to the staff and volunteers who participated in the exercise and expressed optimism that more people would take part in the next exercise.
