Ebrima Sorrie Bah, secretary general of the group calling itself “Barrow for 5-years” campaign has said that they will not support President Adama Barrow to suppress Gambians illegally, but they are in support of his plans to continue in office until 2021.

Speaking on Saturday at a press conference held at Serekunda East mini stadium when they launched the Barrow for 5 years campaign, Bah said their campaign is going to target every household, ward, district, region.

“We are going to engage the people here and we may even seek visas to follow Gambians in Europe and the US,” he said.

Bah said his group will also use the mass media to disseminate their message.

“We are going to meet the president and advise him but that will not include advising him to allow people to come out asking him to step down after 3 years.

Yes we are affiliated to President Barrow Youth for National Development, but we are not doing any politics for the president, and we are not going to be used by the president because we are not and will never be in his pocket.

We will tell him the right things when we get to State House and champion his cause to stay for five years but we will be independent.

Obviously we will not accept ‘3 Years Jotna’ demand. However we will not support the president in anything that will involve suppressing the Gambian people illegally.”
