President Barrow has taken to social media to express his gratitude and happiness to the Gambia Under-20 team for winning the Wafu Zone A championship.
A hearty congratulatory message on his official Facebook page reads. Congratulations to our young Scorpions on their victory as the new football Champions of West Africa in the U-20 WAFU Cup of Nations in Liberia! We are proud of your performance as the only unbeaten team of the tournament. As a football fan, I am indeed happy. I renew my commitment to continue to champion sports as a means of engaging young people as well as promoting the cause of national cohesion and harmony.
From me and the entire country, well done! Long live Gambia! Long live U-20!
Meanwhile confirmed reports have said that the President has invited the team to meet him at State House Friday.
