Speaking during the event, Alhaji Almameh Jawla, project supervisor stated: “This project was made necessary to support the community in observing its religious duties and when completed the mosque will accommodate at least 600 worshippers at a time. The mosque is being sponsored by a Saudi philanthropist whose sole aim is to seek God’s reward. I am happy that I am associated with this project and part of the people who facilitated avenues to bring this project to Barrow Kunda. Prayer is a fundamental pillar of Islam and every Muslim should observe regular daily prayers. Mosques are the houses of God and the most important house of Muslims for that matter. It is important therefore to encourage members of the community to also help in kind throughout the construction of the mosque.”
Imam Daboo Barrow of Jah Kunda who laid the first stone said: “This project is very important because Muslims need to observe their prayers in congregation and it is mandatory for all Muslims to perform their five daily prayers. I want to take this opportunity to thank the people of Barrow Kunda.”
Speaking earlier, Alkalo Alhaji Arafang Barrow and Imam Nfally Barrow of Barrow Kunda praised the donors for and all those who are helping towards the realisation of the new mosque. Other speakers at the occasion include Alhaji Bala Barrow of Jah Kunda and Alkalo Chokeh Jallow of Sare Ngai.
