The Gambia’s men beach volleyball team’s participation in the on going world tour came to an end after losing to the host Iran in the quarter final. The Gambia team lost 2-0 ( 21-18, 21-17)
Earlier, the Gambian team racked up two wins from three outings to make it to the knock out stages but the Qatar based side were overpowered by the tournament’s top favorites.
The team now have Olympic qualifiers to deal with in February.

Meanwhile there is no pleasant news for the women beach ball team too which missed out on the chance to reach the 2020 Olympics after failing to make the cut in the Zone II qualifiers in Conakry.

The Gambia went to the tournament as the top favorites but could only waggle one win out of 4 games. They beat Mali in the opening, only to lose to Guinea, Sierra Leone and Cape Verde .

In 2016 Gambia went as far as continental cup finals and finished 8th, however this year the country could only stop at Zonal level.
