Bottrop Senior Secondary School in Brikama, one of a dozen schools expelled from this year’s athletics championship for alleged cheating, has dismissed the claims of the organisers, the Gambia Secondary School Sports Association (GSSSA) that they filed an unqualified teacher and vowed to fight its case.

Addressing a news conference at the school, yesterday Martin Gomez, Principal of Bottrop and Life- President of the GSSSA called for proof that his school used an ineligible athlete. “The student being queried, was enrolled here using his WAEC exam results of 2019 from Presentation of Mary Basic Cycle and has since then being a student of Bottrop,” Mr Gomez said.

As the finals of the championship is at the corner, Mr. Gomez called on the GSSSA to correct their mistake and reinstate his school, failing which he warned, the school could resort to seeking justice elsewhere.
