The National Assembly Member for Busumbala Constituency has recently sensitised stakeholders and the people of his community on the importance of promoting peace, security, political and economic advancement through community civic education project.
The colourful gathering was held at New Yundum Lower Basic School funded by Future in Our Hands.
Speaking at the gathering, the Hon Saikouba Jarjue said the aim was to create an interface between the stakeholders, the National Assembly Members and the community to explain to them their roles and responsibility in order to solve their differences in the community.
The lawmaker invited the governor, area councilors, NAMs and the Village Development Committee in order to address many burning issues regarding each and everyone’s roles in the community as a whole.
He said information is power that is why he thought it necessary to inform them on their rights and responsibilities and from there they can work hand in glove to develop the Gambia.
Hon. Jarju apologised to Gambians about the recent incidence that took place in his constituency and assured all that such devastating chaos would never occur in his constituency.
He urged the youths of his constituency to not allow politics to divide them.
Bakary Dibba, Governor of West Coast Region, said: “We are looking forward to the Local Government Election and we try our level best to maintain peace and stability we are known for in this Smiling Coast,” he said, while urging the NAMs to always advise their electorate whenever they are out on their campaigns and also allow responsible persons to deliver adequate message to the public.
Other speakers were the Alkalo of New Yundum and the VDC members.
