By Talibeh Hydara General Ousman Badgie, the Chief of Defence Staff has been redeployed to Foreign Service, the CDS himself confirmed the news to The Standard yesterday. Asked which country he might be posted to General Badgie said he was only informed of his redeployment but no specific country has been indicated in the letter. “I’m honoured. I feel very happy that President Barrow has moved me to Foreign Service. It’s all national service. Red, white, blue, white, green; wherever they take me, I will go there and serve happily,” former CDS Badgie told The Standard. General Badgie further disclosed to The Standard that Masanneh Kinteh, the special adviser to President Barrow on security matters, will take over from him as the new army chief. “I took over from him and now he is taking over from me. It’s interesting. But he will find the same staff he left there. I didn’t make any changes,” Badgie said. CDS Badgie captured the attention of the world with his dramatic but intelligent handling of the disputed December 1 election which earned him a lot of admirers. His refusal to stand by former President Jammeh when his term expired turned him into a hero to the masses.]]>
