At the briefing, senior GFF technical and women football officials took turns to underline the importance of the May 16 launch at the Ebunjan Theatre.
”This is another roller coaster drive to popularise women football and a cue from last year’s Girls Festival which brought together over 200 young girls,” said Alhagie Ebrima Nyassi, the GFF youth and grassroots football coordinator, who is heading the programme.
Nyassi announced that a strong team including the Gambia’s current iconic female players have been drafted to serve both as facilitators and inspirations themselves. He revealed that the launch on Saturday will be followed by a festival sometime next month or thereabout, which will attract an even greater number of participants.
Sainabou Cham, a member of the GFF executive, added her voice to the significance of the Live Your Goal concept, describing it as another step towards the development of women’s football.
The GFF technical director Ebrima Manneh wrapped up the day by thanking the journalists through the GFF media committee and reiterated the desire and policy of the GFF to prioritise female football.
The programme starts at 11 am on Saturday at the Ebunjan Theatre in Kanifing, just by the Football House.
