A high court judge has threatened to discharge three men accused of stealing D20 million worth of fuel belonging to the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation.

Justice Bakri of the Banjul High Court said this after he realised that one of the accused persons, Karamo Fatty, was not in court after he had issued an arrest warrant at the last hearing following the prosecutor’s request to have the men arrested to face trial.

“I’m giving you one opportunity. If you don’t produce the accused person on the next adjourned date, I will discharge them. I want them all to appear in court,” he told the prosecutor, SL Jobarteh before adjourning the case to March 9.

The prosecutors alleged that the trio conspired and falsified GNPC’s receipts in favour of one Modou Njie and stole fuel worth D20 million. They are yet to react to the indictment.
