The people of Jokadu have urged the constitutional review commission that the medium of communication in the national assembly should include local languages and not English alone. They were responding to a question raised by commissioner Yankuba Dibba who is among officials on a nation-wide consultation tour.
Meanwhile Kebba Sillah of Karantaba village said it is unfortunate that majority of Gambians cannot understand the language spoken by their parliamentarians while debating national matters, saying that such a state of affair should stop.
He said people would be more involved when they can understand what is being said on their behalf.
