By Amadou M Jadama Chosan Charitable Medical Foundation, comprising Gambian and 11 foreign doctors from UK Rotary Club, United States of America and Senegal, has recently offered free medical treatment to the people of Wuli Nyakoi, Madina, Sutukonding in the Upper River Region and Yorna in the Central River Region. Speaking to The Standard Haruna S Jallow laboratory scientist, vice chairman and programme coordinator of Chosan Charitable Medical Foundation, said: “The foundation comprises health personnel ranging from doctors, nurses, dentists and among fields. “We ventured into this to complement government’s efforts because we are the citizens and the citizens are the government. On that note we see what we should do for our country, but not what we expect from our country. ”As citizens, as long as we are in this medical foundation, we will continue to support the needy people. In Kombos, we have hospitals, pharmacies and clinics. On the other hand, in provincial areas, there is lack of enough hospitals and there are not many referral hospitals. Sometimes most of them are not aware of conditions they have. “Our intention is to go into their compounds and spot out cases that are affecting their lives. When they have medical conditions they arrived at the hospitals very late and doctors cannot do anything. “We don’t go to everywhere but we go to places we know don’t have easy access to the health facilities. Sometimes people living in those areas hardly see doctors because we have limited doctors in the country.”]]>
