The regional intervention forces in The Gambia have denied claims by a Gambian journalist that he was assaulted by their guards causing him bodily harm.

On Wednesday, Fabakary Ceesay, was seen being forcibly carried out of Jaama Hall at the Kairaba Beach Hotel where President Adama Barrow was attending the opening ceremony of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights.

Ceesay, who admitted he was late to the event, was reported to have attempted to force his way in when he saw others being allowed in.

“Today at the opening of the 61st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights at Kairaba Hotel, I was manhandled by Senegalese forces under Ecomig mandate. I was not allowed entry even though all my colleagues in the media who arrived late were allowed entry into the hall, where our Chief Servant, Adama Barrow, is gracing the opening,” Ceesay wrote on his Facebook page.
