Essa Bokar Sy, a former Gambian diplomat and prominent diaspora community member, has been appointed as head of the public relations at the secretariat of the OIC.
Announcing the news on Facebook, Mr Sy said his appointment takes effect from 1 June.
“I flew to The Gambia last Friday to assume office. My homecoming has definitely been marked by a warm welcome within the mindset of team work, team spirit and above all dedication to work. Our role will be to speak on behalf on OIC and above all The Gambia, on matters related to the forth coming conference through effective communication skills and or strategies using diplomacy as quick reference guide,” Mr Sy said.
