Ex-minister AKJ appointed overseer at UTG

Alieu Jammeh, the former Minister of Youth and Sports under President Yahya Jammeh, has been appointed head of Planning and Quality Assurance at the University of The Gambia reliable sources told The Standard.

Also according to our sources Mr Jammeh will serve as overseer. The appointments, our sources added, took effect since May.
Last night The Standard sought reaction from Mr Jammeh on his new assignments and he confirmed his new roles at the UTG by saying: “I am happy to be given the opportunity to serve the country in another capacity. It is all about contributing to the development of the country in whatever capacity one can and this can be at any level,” he said.

Prior to this appointment. Mr  Jammeh had worked first at an international NGO before starting a long stint at the Ministry of Youth and Sports where he served in the  positions of principal secretary, deputy permanent secretary, permanent secretary and latterly as minister.

Jammeh holds a double masters degree in political science and post-war recovery from Malaysia and the UK respectively in 2000 and 2003.
Earlier in the ’90s, he obtained B Sc in public administration at the Islamic University of Uganda.
“He is the man who studied in three different continents and it vastly exposed him to development trends and dynamics from all these part of the world,” said an admirer yesterday.
